Harley servicar - sportster trike: The beginning

August 30, 2005

Here is what my trike looked like before I started to redo it (about 3 years ago). I had bought it off of ebay and just rode it as is for a couple years. I decided to sell it and was just going to do some cosmetic stuff first. It turned into a complete frame-off and House of Kolor paintjob. It has a ‘76 ironhead sportster motor, ‘81 lowrider front end (narrow glide), a servicar rear axle (with hydraulic brakes) and a custom frame.

It ran and drove OK, but it just looked generally crappy.

The aluminum was corroded and stained, and most of the chrome was pitted. It has fat bob tanks and dash, with the speedo replaced with blank plate. The toggle switches are for hi/low and turnsignals I think.

The rear fenders were both smashed in.

And the fenders were off a two-wheeler, but had none of the extra holes filled. The welds were pretty bad, I had to keep rewelding the fender brace at the bottom of the pic. The seat and mount were also pretty ugly.

Below is a sneak preview of what the (still unfinished) bike looks like now with House of Kolor Marbleizing on the frame and all new chrome parts.
